Major exam 1 blog #3

I set many expectations upon myself for the Major Exam 1. Every time I receive a test, I tend to get test anxiety and my mind goes completely blank. However, I felt mentally prepared knowing that I studied the right material for this test and not being crammed with time with that being said I didn’t feel that way. The study guide was very convenient in several ways which helped me meet my expectations. It allowed me to have a visual of what I was going to be tested on. If you were lacking and an area that was on the study guide this was the time to go back and to prepare yourself so when you get, ask a question with that topic you won’t have to hesitate.

I learn best when it is hands on but I am most defiantly a visual thinker. The way I prepared for this test was breaking the study guide into sections for vocabulary and short answers. I made flash cards for every single vocabulary word and short answer essay and highlighted letters in the word that would help me remember or even come up with something to get the general process through my head of what it actually is. This was a very beneficial process I used due to my advantage because everyone has a different mentality of learning and this is the way that fits my best. The highlighters put a bright image in my head to help me capture what I am trying to remember or think of.

I think the most difficult part of the exam was definitely the vocabulary part because we were handed twelve vocabulary words and we were only getting tested on twelve so this is where I had to freeze and actually break it down and think. I really liked having a full short answer exam because if you can’t word it correctly you can try to emphyze to get the meaning or point what you are trying to state.

Words are essential to all human life; they are something we use every single day. Words can be good or bad depending on how, when and what context we use them in. A good experience with words has been winning a huge tournament in volleyball communication was key to success we couldn’t have won if it wasn’t for my coach. Everything he told us was important in game situation on and off the court whether it was a correction or something we need to acknowledge in pressure situations. They were also important to our success. Without words we would not have been able to conduct practices effectively and efficiently.

One way words have affected me in a bad way would be when I was bullied in middle school. Boys would always call me bad names and make fun of me for made up situations. This has affected me very much so in my life today with how I carry out my everyday routine. I make sure every little thing I do is cautious with everything I say and do. The way these words have affected me are substantial and will always affect me for the rest of my life. Words tend to get miss used by judging you should never judge or say anything about someone before getting to know them. Words can get twisted and misspoken leading to rumors for example when I quit the volleyball team because of personal reasons everyone went around the school saying that I didn’t make the team. Hearing negative words from my coach has affected me majorly I have always been a member of a sporting team whether it was a school team or a select team and my last year ever of playing volleyball the game I had a passion for the game was taken away by him correcting us in every way possible. For example this has happened to me at a huge tournament in Dallas, TX where I was trying to qualify for Junior Olympics that summer we were in bracket play and we were playing one of the hardest teams and we were down by 3 points my coach called a timeout and started screaming at us saying we could do better than we were and I was team caption so this was my time to pull the team together and regroup in a pressure situation when we were all down because we were giving our best effort but it wasn’t good enough for him games are not all about winning competing to your best is all that you need to do and those words I heard in the huddle really changed my heart on the way I felt about loving the game. Watch what you say because there is meaning behind every word.

Hello! My name is Maddie Muncie, I am currently 18 years old and a Freshman at Blinn Junior College. I went to Klein Oak High School which is located in my hometown Spring, Texas. I am very loud, outgoing, and athletic. I have 2 older brothers named Luke and Jake. Luke is twenty- four, He graduated college and now he is very successful in the business industry that follows in mechanics. Jake Is twenty-one and works for a construction company. My mom and dad are together. I have a puppy that is named Hank, he is a Golden Retriever and is one years old.
Some of my hobbies consist of working out, playing volleyball, and meeting new people. When I was in High School, I was a member of the volleyball team all 4 years I attended Klein Oak. Working out is my biggest stress reliever, it also helps with my ability to escape the real world with the new transition of college that I am facing. My favorite thing to do is to meet new people because you get to find out their different personalities and values in each individuals.

My future goals I set towards myself in college is to be too successful with my studies and know that I have priorities and responsibilities that I have to take care of. College is a hard transition for everyone especially me since I am a freshman. I would love to graduate with my major as Kinesiology and continue something in the fitness field. Kinesiology is one of my strongest interest. I can relate because I’ve been in physical activity my whole life and it’s something that I look up to and want to learn about. College is a hard transition for everyone especially me since I am a freshman but I always will have a positive activity and a great work ethic that will help me advance my goal for my future and it all starts here in college.
